On my way home from the church, I picked up one of our church leaflets and as I read on the sharings made by our beloved parish priest, Fr. Vincent, I was struck by this point, ” Respect for human life calls us to acknowledge the right and the value of life in all its forms and stages.” – Fr. Vincent Le
I totally affirm with Fr. Vincent since for me, life is not owned by anyone of us but rather, the sole owner of this life is He above us. How could we show then that we value and respect human life? It has to start from us and it is shown on the quality of life that we put on our own. This has something to do with many things like lifestyle, food, influences, values and many more.
Are we taking care of our life? Do we shun away from drugs and other substances that may destroy it? Do we allow ourselves to be in contact socially, morally and spiritually with our loved ones and neighbors? What are the efforts that we normally exert to improve the quality of our life?
These are just examples of questions that we can confront to ourselves. Since birth until to the very end of our life, we are invited to unceasingly develop it into the image that God has envisioned for us- a life that is centered on love, peace and harmony among others. Day by day, we can hear of many wasted lives, intentionally and unintentionally.
Life wasted by hatred, some by rage and others just by mere foolishness. There are even lives which are wasted even still in the wombs of mothers. Anyway, as we continue proceeding with our respective journeys in life, may we not stop to promote its own welfare. Enjoy life to the fullest and share this with others. Thanks be to God for this LIFE.
