Respect for One's Life

On my way home from the church, I picked up one of our church leaflets and as I read on the sharings made by our beloved parish priest, Fr. Vincent, I was struck by this point, ” Respect for human life calls us to acknowledge the right and the value of life in all its forms and stages.” – Fr. Vincent Le

I totally affirm with Fr. Vincent since for me, life is not owned by anyone of us but rather, the sole owner of this life is He above us. How could we show then that we value and respect human life? It has to start from us and it is shown on the quality of life that we put on our own. This has something to do with many things like lifestyle, food, influences, values and many more.

Are we taking care of our life? Do we shun away from drugs and other substances that may destroy it? Do we allow ourselves to be in contact socially,  morally and spiritually with our loved ones and neighbors? What are the efforts that we normally exert to improve the quality of our life?

These are just examples of questions that we can confront to ourselves. Since birth until to the very end of our life, we are invited to unceasingly develop it into the image that God has envisioned for us- a life that is centered on love, peace and harmony among others. Day by day, we can hear of many wasted lives, intentionally and unintentionally.

Life wasted by hatred, some by rage and others just by mere foolishness. There are even lives which are wasted even still in the wombs of mothers. Anyway, as we continue proceeding with our respective journeys in life, may we not stop to promote its own welfare. Enjoy life to the fullest and share this with others. Thanks be to God for this LIFE.

Thank You Oh Lord for this Wonderful Day

I feel so blessed to have this wonderful day. For others, this day may seem to be just any ordinary day like the rest of the week yet for me, it becomes so cool since it allows me to renew my commitment to you o Lord and to appreciate all Your goodness showered to me unceasingly through all blessings that I treasured each single day.

Just by the thought that I am able to wake up today and enjoy the company of my beloved wife is indeed enough reason for me to make this day a very meaningful and memorable one. I don’t need to look elsewhere for more extra ordinary things. By the unfolding of my daily events, that’s enough reason for me to recognize Your goodness in me.

Thus I am also invited to make my share with Your plan and for me to do it, I need to be consistently obedient and optimistic follower of You. I courageously and willingly accept such challenge to take up my cross everyday and follow You. This way, I am able to repay Your goodness though You never expect that from me.

Two Hearts Joined Together in Love

I have the privileged of witnessing the binding of two hearts yesterday through the sacrament of matrimony for my two mates in work. While watching the main actors of the momentous event, I could not help but be reflective of this mystery called marriage. I know that marriage is a lifetime commitment and I am just awed by the idea that of all the partners in the world, why is it that we come into such a relationship with our partners now (husband or wife)?

I have been married for 9 years and same as with others, never in my life that I dreamt of mating a woman like my wife yet with God’s mysterious ways, I’m very lucky to have met and have committed my life to a woman like her. Just like the experience of my two mates yesterday, the joys and positive energy were well displayed in their faces.

I have known both of them for almost 3 years and I know that they are loving each other…supporting each other which are the essenial ingredients in marriage. Sad to say, some marriages failed for many reasons. Is it their destiny or is it somebody’s fault? Several factors why a certain marriage fail and I am not an authority to judge one yet one of those reasons that causes a break up in marriage is the inability of any or both parties to keep the fire burning in the relationship. I’m completely aware that it is easier than done but with one’s commitment and true love, I know that any marriage will last a lifetime.

After all, when we said yes during the ceremony, it is a commitment meant a lifetime. May both husband and wife continue to support each other notwithstanding the storms and thunders of marriage since after them will come the sunrise.
