Life is Like a Floating Boat

 beautiful moments

Listening to our preacher yesterday, I was asking myself this question, “Did I allow my God to be in control of my life like a true captain of a boat?” While our preacher continued with his sharing especially by pinpointing specific examples of famous people who experienced concretely those stormy weathers in their life, I also silently put myself in the middle of a storm and check my own reactions to such a devastation. People mentioned was Job whose life was destroyed and challenged by several storms yet he continued to be steadfast in his faith in God.

On the Other hand, there was also St. Paul who like Job experienced similar storms with the Jews who persecuted him. Yet, in their stormy weathers, they remained calm and trustful to God.

Reflecting back on our journey, indeed several storms have come and go in our life. Loss of a loved one, separated from close people in our life, being deserted by a husband, wife, partner, close friend, losing one’s job, meeting an untimely accident or misfortune in life so on and so forth.

All throughout those difficult times, where we able to stay calm and unperturbed? Did we call out His name and submitted everything to Him above? Or was it the other way around that instead of fully trusting God’s promise of undying love and compassion for us, we therefore tend to forget Him and what is worst, put all the blame on Him?

Hence, it is always beneficial for all of us to spend a quiet time to allow ourselves to see if where are we in our trust and relationship with our God.

Act of Submission

 Life is so precious

PSALM 23: 1-6

” The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack. In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me; you restore my strength. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name. Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side. Your rod and staff give me courage. You set a table before me as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

Just by reading and reflecting on this psalm, we could always be rest assured of His overflowing kindness and love for all of us. And no matter what will be in store for us today and in the future, He would always be steadfast in His great care for us. Nevertheless, we also need to ask ourselves how then are we responding to the greatness of His Love? How do we treat others especially those who are considered less fortunate members of our society? Are we generous in our time so that we really are sincere when we attend to the needs of our spouses and children?

As the days go by, we are endowed with various opportunities that allow us to increase further our faith on Him above. One thing though which is very beneficial for us all is the trait of attentiveness. Being attentive not only to our own needs but also that of others help us to grow both in mind and in spirit. Thus, let us consider this life journey as a very precious invitation for us to share God’s great love to others.
