Allowing God to Take Control of Everything

“As he was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. He said to them, “Come after me and I will make you fishers of men.” – Gospel of Matthew 4:18-19

Do you believe in your own personal calling to serve God? Everyday we make ourselves busy with all the undertakings that we have- work, families, community, school, church etc.. However there is also another form of calling that we need to entertain every now and then-that is the calling to be of service to God through our neighbours wherever we are.

In every situation we are in, there is always that invitation to serve Him. We don’t have to be confined by the four walls of the classroom or to take the role of a priest/brother/sister to serve Him. Each day, we are called to serve Him and maybe we have no idea but we, in fact, are already doing it in the guise of our daily activities.

The way we treat others is one way to offer our service to God. Let us also allow others to feel that in spite of their own predicaments and sufferings, there is still more to life than just them. By sharing our precious time to others especially those who are in need of listening ears to lighten their day, that’s concretely a way to serve God.

On the other hand, we can share our resources to others by donating them instead of merely hiding them. If we take time and check our personal belongings, positively we can find items there that are of no use and importance to us anymore. So let us get hold of them, put them inside a bag or whatever container then share them with the less privileged people in our society, community or wherever in the world that these clothing and others are very much needed.

As we are nearing the Yuletide season, let us open our eyes and hearts to be stewards of life and kindness for others.

A Faithful Friend

God did not desert Jeremiah and He will not desert us. We have His continual aid through the power of the Spirit who lives every believer (John 14:16-17)

There is always an assurance for us who trek on individual journeys that no matter what will happen along the way, we should never feel totally alone even though at times, it seems the road is becoming a burdensome one for He would always be there and constantly guiding as well as accompanying us.

Similar to the journey of Jeremiah who in his time, suffered great humiliations both physical and verbal abuses while sharing the good news of God, we also have our own share of deprivations and sufferings. As He assured and will continue to assure us that in Him, the load will be lighter and easy for He will never forsake us.

With this assurance, it gives us constant reason to be positive each day of our journey.

However, as human as we are, rough and tough times come to us and no matter how we proclaim that we are strong but in some of those moments, we tend to become weak and hopeless. But reflecting on God’s goodness and faithfulness, we are re- assured of a never ending love from somebody who accepts all of our being regardless of who we are and what we have done.

Thus, in all our journey, may we always remember to trust Him and allow Him to lead our way. After all, He is our beginning and our end.
